Cold Room Officer
The Cold Room Officer is responsible for the proper storage, handling and management of frozen and perishable products within the cold room facility. The role ensures that products are stored at the correct temperatures, inventory records are accurately maintained and food safety, hygiene, and operational standards are strictly followed to prevent spoilage and losses.
Responsibilities:
- Receive, store, and arrange frozen and perishable products in the cold room according to approved procedures.
- Monitor and maintain appropriate temperature levels in the cold room and ensure readings are accurately recorded.
- Ensure proper stock rotation using FIFO (First-In-First-Out) to minimize wastage and product expiry.
- Conduct regular stock counts and maintain accurate inventory records.
- Inspect products for quality, damage, or spoilage and promptly report any discrepancies or losses.
- Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, and health regulations at all times.
- Assist with loading and offloading of products while ensuring proper handling procedures are followed.
- Report equipment faults, temperature irregularities, or operational issues immediately to the supervisor.
- Maintain cleanliness, orderliness, and safety within the cold room and surrounding work areas.
- Work collaboratively with inventory, logistics, and operations teams to support smooth daily operations.
- Adhere strictly to company policies, procedures, and safety guidelines.
- Perform any other duties assigned in line with operational needs.
Requirements:
- OND/HND or Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Agriculture, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
- 1 to 2 years of work experience in cold room operations, warehouse management, or inventory handling.
- Basic understanding of cold chain management, food safety standards and storage best practices.
- Familiarity with cold room equipment and basic handling procedures will be an added advantage.
- Physically fit and able to work in cold environments for extended periods.
- Resides in Kaduna.
