Summary
We’re looking for a Backend Developer with solid experience in PHP and Laravel to
help us build and maintain the systems powering our platform. You’ll be part of a
small but passionate engineering team, working on everything from core APIs to
background services and integrations. We’d love to hear from you if you care about
writing clean, reliable code and want your work to make a real-world difference.
Responsibilities:
- Build and maintain backend services using Laravel (PHP).
- Design and implement robust RESTful APIs used by our frontend and mobile apps.
- Work closely with other developers, product managers, and stakeholders to deliver features that matter.
- Write clean, maintainable, and testable code with performance in mind.
- Optimize MySQL queries and database structure for scale.
- Use Redis for caching and performance improvements.
- Set up and manage Docker containers for local and production environments.
- Support deployment workflows and infrastructure on AWS (e.g., EC2, S3).
- Stay on top of security best practices and implement protection against common vulnerabilities.
Requirements:
- 3+ years of experience in backend development using PHP and Laravel.
- Solid understanding of MySQL databases and relational data design.
- Comfortable building and working with REST APIs.
- Experience with Docker, Redis, and cloud platforms like AWS.
- Familiar with version control tools like Git, and CI/CD workflows.
- Good debugging and troubleshooting skills.
- Able to work independently, communicate clearly, and manage your time effectively.
Nice to Have:
- Experience working with Cloudflare, background job queues, or webhook systems.
- Interest or exposure to AI/ML tools or data-driven services.
- Previous experience in agritech or working on products for the African market.
